Inleiding

Data, data, data - it is everywhere, all around us, and increasingly collected (and making decisions) through personalisation, responsive content and dashboards, artificially intelligent & adaptive tools in our learning technologies (and environments).

This workshop aims to draw upon the knowledge and data literacy practices studied in developing the imec-SMIT DataBuzz focus and lesson content. In elaborating upon the framework and islands of good practice, it aims to bring to light the various high and low tech ways in which data literacy can be practiced and developed with students (adults - teachers, parents and the community at large) within and beyond school grounds.

Resultaat

At the end of this session you will:

1/ have gained an understanding of the current educational definitions of data literacy for children and youth;

2/ have greater knowledge of a range of high and low-tech tools and activities targeting data literacy development for you and your students;

3/ have adapted the use of a relevant tool and/or approach to concretely try and get started in developing data literacy within their own professional practice and community.
